About this book
Read moreHow the books are built
Alongside the platform we've written a book series: a central book and a companion for each field, making one argument: that systems modelling is how you see the whole system, and that agentic AI has just changed what it costs to do it properly.
Seeing the Whole System is the central book. It makes the general case (the theory, the practice, and what the machine changes), and it stands on its own. The companions each take that argument into one field, in that field's own language: from story worlds and concept design to research, running and backing a business, utilities and the circular economy.
Every book is written for a practitioner, not a modeller, and every one is built the same way round. Part I is the discipline: how that field's systems actually behave. Part II is the practice, the method, in that field's own language, doable with a whiteboard, a reading list and a spreadsheet, because it was being done that way long before any of this. Then we explain the machine openly, in the terms that matter: what it automates, what it makes auditable, what it keeps honest, and what stays your judgement. You finish a book able to do the work yourself, and knowing exactly which parts SOSX will do for you when doing them by hand stops being worth the weeks.
Start with the central book, or go straight to the field you work in; each book stands alone, though they are better together.
